In Greater Manchester, all adult patients that present with a suspected open lower limb fracture are now conveyed via NWAS directly to the nearest Major Trauma Centre. This may be either Manchester Royal Infirmary or Salford Royal Hospital. For patients that self-present to sites outside of the MTCC, there is a robust process that outlines initial interventions and then onward transfer to the MTC.
