Exercise is important after being critically ill, as it will:
- Strengthen your heart and lungs
- help to rebuild the muscle that is lost during critical illness
- can help to reduce strength
The exercises you will find on this page are designed to be performed in hospital as well as at home. It is important to pace yourself and not try to do too much but also not to be too hard on yourself when you feel that you are not progressing as you think you should. Keeping an exercise diary will help with seeing the improvement you are making each week.
